Moose, Moose, Moose! (1)

Today the Moose group set out beyond the Kelly campus of the TSS and into the Teton National Park. Along the drive we spotted a number of pronghorn (antelope), the fastest land animal in North America, and deer. After hiking a modest distance into the beautiful foothills, we took lunch under the sun and clouds, played riddle games, and learned about the plant life of the GYE- Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Throughout the day, students passed around the pronghorn of leadership, a real pronghorn adorned with a rubber-band each student attached as a symbol of the specific leadership quality they would lend to the group this week. These included: respect, inclusivity, and encouragement. After lunch, we hiked a bit further and discovered, then analyzed, the bones of an animal and a mysterious track in the trail. Finally, we set up a riparian experiment to search for macro invertebrates and then made predictions about the health of the river.
